Wine Serving Temperature 20/20 Rule

The 20/20 Rule is a great way to ensure you are drinking your wine at the proper temperature.

Most white wines are served too cold and red wines too warm. Serving wine at its optimal temperature will bring out the best in every bottle of wine you open.

The 20/20 rule is an easy way to remember:

Chill White Wine in the the refrigerator and pull it out 20 minutes before serving.

Put your Red Wine in the the refrigerator 20 minutes before serving.

If uncertain about serving temperature, always err on the side of caution and serve the wine on the cold side. The glass will warm up slowly releasing a sequence of pleasing aromas and flavors.

The following chart shows different wines and their recommended serving temperatures. You won't have to worry about these numbers if you follow the 20/20 Rule!
